The great Wipro Marathon!

Spirit of Wipro!

On a fine evening of September; Sep-5th to be specific, I received a message from my friend KUMBA (that’s his pet name – KUMBA in our language means - Tummy) who works in Wipro, asking us to join for the Wipro marathon. He knows us very well that he had mentioned very clearly that there will be a Free T-shirt and food to everyone who participates in the marathon run... :). As it was on 6th morning 7 and I didn’t have any other work than sleeping, I thought I will not miss that T-shirt... Also, I can see some Great runners in my previous company whom I couldn’t meet when I was there at Wipro... Especially the female runners....LOL... My roommate was anyways not interested to come, as he didn’t want to trust KUMBA at all and waste his sleep on a Saturday morning, as KUMBA is notorious for playing prank on his friends always!! However, I decided to trust him and set the alarm to 6.30Am and hit the bed for a tight sleep...

Next day I got up at 6.30 and got ready, KUMBA picked me up from the Agara-junction and we were hurrying to the Wipro Sarjapur office, as we were getting late.. While going KUMBA was saying, - “Man No running business, just get the T-shirt and escape.. I can’t run early morning!!” As we were entering, the first marathon was kicking off, the shortest version - only 4kms! KUMBA asked me to register at the gates and he rushed inside the parking which is again some 100meters away from the Gates. Before I could tell him that I need him with me while registering, he had already left the place... The security did not allow me to register as I was not a Wipro employee and also not guided by one! Finally I had to call up KUMBA to come back and register my name for the marathon. Being a born lazy bug, he tried to resolve it over the phone, but did not work...So he came back to the Gates - all the way by walk. I saw him wearing the Wipro's Marathon special T-shirt! I said, if I don’t get one, I am going to grab his T-shirt for sure... He said – “Come fast the shortest Marathon already started, we should join it; else we will have to run for the Longest one, which is 10kms...” I said, “Boss, Are we really going to run or we are here just to get the T-shirt and the free food??” Surprisingly he said – “My friends and colleagues are there, Lets at least participate and justify for taking the T-shirt!!” I was shocked to hear it from KUMBA!!Then I realized he was kidding... After all he is KUMBA! :D, His plan was to run till the main gate and join then escape from there, by limping.. Finally I got my T-shirt.. Half of the mission accomplished... Now we got to know one more thing... When we start the long marathon, later sometime, we will find the shortest marathon guys coming back to the start point... So we planned to start with the longer marathon and finish with the Short marathon guys: D...

So the marathon was started, and as per our plan, we saw the shortest marathon runners coming back soon after some 100meters from the main gate.. We were all set to limp.. Then we took a smart turn from a crowded place and started to run back as if we are dying to finish the 4km marathon... But as we were approaching the finishing line, we saw that everyone who returns to the finishing point got some blue paint sprayed on their t-shirt.. I felt happy... Good that we didn't go with them; else the t-shirt would be spoiled... I couldn't see KUMBA, as he was running to beat the real runners at the finishing line... I was not that big cheater like him, so I was walking towards the finishing line with some tired runners.. But as soon as I crossed the finishing line, one volunteer came to me and asked, "Hey you did not complete the run right??" I was shocked, how the hell he came to know this!! Anyways, I didn’t feel like lying.. I said - "No, I had a muscle pull.. So i came back walking...” Then later I came to now that, The blue paint I saw sprayed on them was a proof for them to reach the 2km spot before reaching the finish line... I looked around... Everyone except the volunteers has got the blue paint on their T-shirt!! And all are glaring at us!! ahem ahem.. Who cares, I am not working in Wipro...

Then we thought ok, let’s go in and have the breakfast.. We both went inside on the lawn where all the REAL runners were resting and having their breakfast... We took one box each and sat in a corner.. In the box, we found something similar to a Tuna Puff- My favorite!, a Cup cake, A bottle of Appy and some coconut biscuits...Hmm yummy!! We both looked at each other were laughing!! We are not worthy of this, as we didn’t even run 200meters!! But, we were not that bad to waste the food we took.. But then, I found that, the puffs I got was empty inside!! And the same with KUMBA!! We felt, what the FISH!!! Azim Premji is not that kanjuse to have a breakfast of this kind!! But then we realized, only we both got empty puffs... May be the makers would have forgot or purposefully wouldn’t have filled inside some of them and God kept those for us!! Hmm... We both looked at each other again, and said, God is great!!

But we never gave up, we carried on eating the remaining and finished it in hurry and left the place quickly!!

While coming out of the Wipro main gate, The posters read this way – Spriti of Wipro… and my mind was saying, "Run Jithu Run!! Run and escape!!!!!!!!!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday moon makes me cry...
Oneday I am gonna make him dry...
Sunday the day, let me give a try!

I wonder, why do I cry at this monday moon...
Don't know whats wrong with this monday moon,
But now, I really feel tired of this Monday Moon...

Is it just a spot or really a moon?
I really don't know whats so special,
But its a wonder moon to me!

Though it makes me cry very soon,
I don't think its a guilty goon..
Because I still love my monday Moon!

With Love from Middle Berth…

Like many other people, I too like train journey a lot. It’s a long journey, where we can have the fun of travelling and the joy of site seeing... When I got the call from my cricket team coach for the cricket match in Bangalore, I felt very happy… I heard a lot about the Bangalore’s crowd… especially Girls! So its all decided and finally the day has come… Though the train was at 9.30PM, we reached the station by 7PM itself: The BIRDS in my hometown are also as attractive as its in BangaloreJ. Finally, we got into the train… Because of the hectic rush, we got the berths in different places. I have got the berth in S10 along with my friend - Anand. He got the upper berth and me - the middle berth.
Soon after we entered, a family got into the compartment with big luggage and other stuffs. Anyone can easily understand that its a Mallu family settled in Bangalore going back after a long vacation. A middle aged person and his family – Wife, his daughter(hmm I think she is in her 10th standard) and his son who is just about 2-3 years of old also an old lady I guess she is their nanny - somewhere in 80s. They have got 3 berths in the other side and one by our side – the lower one. We passed a smile to all of them... After all they are going to be with us inside this compartment for the entire night right.. That person was very friendly in nature and soon we started off with a conversation… When her father asked us where we are going, my friend shouted loudly “we are district cricket team members and are going to Bangalore for a Cricket tournament!” Poor fellow! He felt, people will be impressed to see professional cricketers… but to his disappointment, that person responded this way – “Why you kids are wasting your life by playing cricket... Can’t you concentrate in your studies and get some good jobs…?” For this comment, his daughter passed a cute smile but did not say anything… (Hmm…she is slowly getting on to our track, we thought…) Though we were having a common discussion, only her dad and mom bothered to respond… Her grand mom was praying all this time and her naughty crooked brother, though he can’t speak anything clearly, was good at showing irritating gestures towards us... Stupid kid! :D all this while, she was just being a silent listener - as if she is a very serious person, but WHO CARES! hmm but at times she used to pass some smiles at our witty numbers… we then changed out tactics… Later time, we were trying to win her brother’s heart by offering cool drinks, ice creams and chocolates to him.. But that little devil took everything we offered but never bothered to friend with us… SHAMELESS CHEATER!

Time went past… we had dinner… still no positive response from the girl.. Ahem ahem.. Seems like a tough customer I felt… But Anand was still busy giving his last try - pretending as if he is recollecting some of his old (fake) stories (Like he hit 3 sixes in successive balls to win a match bla bla), which is his last and regular tool to impress people, especially when there are girls around.. But as usual, its of no use… no one in fact showed any interest to give any attention to those boring stories… Slowly we given up and thought of sleeping, so as that family... The girl stepped on to the upper berth and was about to sleep.. And her mom got on to the middle berth and her nanny already FLAT on the lower berth.. When her father took that naughty kid on the lower berth for sleeping, the kid started crying to get on to the middle berth, It seems he needs to touch his mom whenever he wants but is not ready to sleep with her (what a weird habit, Isn’t it?). Still his father tried his best to fit him by his mom’s side, but the kid was stubborn with his decision that he will sleep with his father only but he also want to touch her mom as well… GRR…

Then my idiot friend Anand came in for the rescue... He offered MY berth to them even without asking me! He said – “Jithu, why don’t you let them sleep on the middle berth da.. He will be happy then..” More than pleasing them, that @$$ wanted me to go totally out of that girl’s sight!! As soon as he made his announcement, her father was looking at me for a response or rather he was expecting me to get down off the middle berth, and as she was also looking at me to know what is happening, I could not say a NO in this situation and I had to say - “Ohh no problem Uncle,No prolem at all”. In my mind I was searching for new abusing words for my friend who offered my berth to that person… However, I was happy about the fact that I have got a chance to get her sympathy with my broad minded attitude... Ahem ahem…

Slowly I fell asleep and was dreaming about the film Titanic which I had watched recently… I kicked Leonardo Dicaprio out of the scenes and filled in myself for his role... Kate Winslet was very happy to see me in place of Dicaprio… Everything was perfect… James Cameron described me the scene and we were shooting all the sequences.... Meeting Rose… falling in love.. the famous spitting competition…Titanic pose… then we were getting ready for the sinking of the ship… everything was perfect.. clear sky… shining stars… but suddenly it started drizzling… I wondered, in the movie there was no rain.. then how come suddenly… PLING.. PLING… Ohh.. Few drops fell on my face as well.. ohh its really raining now and its getting stronger, I felt.. Who knows, it may give some added effects to the film than the original one.. and after all rain is the symbol of romance, so its ok with me… I was getting ready for the shot.. but then I realized, it tastes salty!

I woke up from my sleep and closed my eyes tightly to see if I were really dreaming… I slowly realized..Yes, I was dreaming all this time!! FFEWW… Yet another dream!! The ship… The ocean... Rain, James Cameron, Kate Winslet all disappeared from my mind but except one… The salty taste in my mouth… I opened my eyes… I woke up slowly.. The train was still moving smoothly with its rhythmic sound… I rubbed my eyes…. Then I realized, my face is really wet and it tasted salty!!! Somehow, I got my nerves back and woke up from the berth and switched on the lights.. Then I realized, It wasn’t the salty rain which I dreamt of… It was nothing but the naughty lil devil’s tank was leaking while he was sleeping… In simple words- That little stupid idiot PEED on me!!! “AaaaaaHHH Grrrrrrrrrrrr, What the hell is this!!” I shouted.. All in the compartment woke up.. and I was standing in the middle with wet face!!! I was speechless… His father apologized to me and said, sometimes he does so! I could not look at the side where his sister was sleeping… In midst I saw Anand - struggling to control his laughter!! Bloody bugger!!
While going towards the washbasin, I could hear his father telling the boy – “baby, Why did u PEE on his face... See he how sad he is now… never repeat it okie sweettu?” and then follows by my friend’s dialogue – “Its okie uncle... No problem.. He is just a kid na.. “

I could not do much, than cursing my fate…

Note: There is nothing like - Crush, Love or infatuation here, May be some genuine characteristics of a typical Sagittarius!

Hmm… It was on a fine Sunday I met her for the first time... During my visit to my home town a month ago, I was asked to go to a party of my mom’s colleague Mr. Menon sir’s son’s wedding… Initially though I hesitated to go with her, then later considering the crowd factor I agreed to go.. Rather I had to go to my mom and tell her that – “Mom I am getting bored here… So I am also coming...”. Because she had stopped forcing me after I said that I am not going to come for the reception party! I actually did not want to waste a chance for cream bird watching in Thrissur…

So It was after my friend come neighbor – Joy’s Sister’s marriage, we all got ready to go for the reception. My Chechi and her naughty daughter were also there along with us for the reception. As I drove in, I could see the some colors (I mean BIRDS - can’t translate anymore…)

But there is not as much I was expecting.. It was a Sunday evening… and all I could see is my mom’s colleagues… L Only old people.. most of them are in the edge of retirement… Not many young bloods other than some kids playing here and there… For a moment I felt, I shouldn't have come here… But all of a sudden, I saw a young, fresh face among those old faces… she was talking to people...walking all around the auditorium with a broad smile on face… hmm... She is not bad... I said myself… May be because she got some facial resemblance to the film actress Namita (Only FACIAL similaritiesJ)! Hmm but her smile was good enough to catch my attention! Ahem ahem… But I could not do much as my sister was following my every step with her watchful eyes along with her, more watchful daughter… I think She also saw me looking at her, and may be because of that she was forcing mom to go back home! Hmm... While walking towards the car parking, I saw her standing at the front door of the auditorium... Gehhh! Is she following me now, I had a doubt and that is quite obvious!! But she never looked at me L - blind girls! I rushed to the car parking and took my car in a hurry to reach the entrance before she goes from there… I took my car in style near the entrance… Though I was visible to her by the time reached, my crooked sister blocked my sight very intelligently so that even if that girl turns towards us, she won’t be able to see me! Even if it was not intentional, my sister got an ability to do things like this very often, what a pity! And with a sigh, I drove back home…

Reached Bangalore on Tuesday and again, the same stupid life… but on next Monday, I got to know from my teammates that there is a new girl on the floor that too very close to the place where our team members sit… ahem… Ahem… When I saw her, I could not believe myself… she looks the same as the previous girl whom I was talking about earlier. But some changes in the outlook and ornaments… though the smile and face resemble, not much cuteness as the previous one had… and a lil bit fatty too… But I was so surprised to see her anyways… By the way does that really matter?? For us yet another Bird in the floor…:D yeehoo! I heard someone yelling once that Bird watching in the early morning relishes your mind! I think there is something about that…

Days went past in the same pattern.. but today when I got into the cab at 5.15Am for my morning shift… Believe it or not.. Instead of the regular boring faces (sorry mates... but it is really) of my other cab mates (only malesL), I saw her there inside the cab!! As soon as I entered, my cab driver started asking me the news at home and other details… He is also a Mallu!! Actually I wanted to thank him that time since he made me to speak Malayalam - I was thinking of how to make her understand that I am the same Mallu guy she met that day in Thrissur at the function. I could see her looking at me when I speak to the cab driver so friendly.. I felt hmm she is impressed!! Ha ha! But why is she hesitating to speak? Hmm may be a starting trouble… I thought of starting a conversation... But you know, what the words just don’t come out.. “Bloody useless idiot”, I cursed myself for not being smart when it is really needed… Hmm… Then I thought, let’s get out of the office… as she is in the same floor we will get some time while walking towards the office… that time I can start a conversation… As wished, when we entered inside the lift, surprisingly there was no security guard!! Ahem ahem!! The door closed!! I took all my strength and asked her – “Hey, Have I met u earlier??? I have seen you in Trichur… Do you remember??”

I was expecting a surprised face with a big smile on the face, but that did not happen -instead I saw one confused face followed by a question – “th-hri –chur??? Nooooo!!”
Now I doubt, whether she is a Malayali or not!! Anyways, I said “ Ohh Is it.. Ohh So stupid of me.. Sorry I think I am mistaken...” Thankfully, by this time we reached the 5th floor and I got out as if I am running to beat Rajadhani Express! but while the security guard was checking my laptop bag, she said “Buh Bye.. See you!”… Budding yet another hope to my imaginations… She went past me with a smile… And I went slowly towards my desk for yet another boring day in my life!

Revenge!

May be a very familiar story for all mallus... but still.. for those who did not hear about this before.. :)

A group of Ants were going on top of a wooden bridge... they were going to attend their friend's wedding at the other side of the small canal... They were very well dressed up and happy... The wooden bridge was very old.. Then suddenly an Elephant came in from nowhere... And got on to the bridge... The ants shouted at him saying - "Hey, Please don't get on to the bridge... It’s very old and weak.. It will fall down if you step in...” Then the elephant, said, "I don't care.. I know how to swim...” Then the ants requested - "Please wait till we reach the other end... we have a marriage to attend...” But the elephant, did not listen to them and got on to the bridge.. Within seconds, because of his weight, the bridge has fallen down with a huge sound... So as the elephant and the ants... Some of the ants got on to the banks because of the waves in the water... They all were so angry and frustrated and searched for the the elephant and found him standing in the middle of the canal with a naughty smile on his face.... Then they suddenly noticed 1-2 of their friends standing on top of the elephant... They somehow got on to his body when they fell down from the bridge... Seeing this opportunity, one of the angry young ants shouted at his friends who stand on the elephant- “Kick that jerk and sink that bloody son of a bitch!! @#$#@$!#$#!$!#$!"
